Chyré Boardman

Chyré Boardman studied under sculptor Richard Helzer, focusing on working with natural materials like wood, stone and clay.  During this time she discovered her natural affinity to clay, due to its flexible nature and ease of manipulation.

Her sculpture strives for clarity of line and purity of shape.  Her stoneware sculptures are particularly interesting since she does not hollow out the pieces of solid clay.  The solidity of the works requires months of air drying and several days of firing.  After being fired, the pieces are covered in layers of metallic color, in order to give them their distinct patina and rich luster.
